This is a list of the transliterations for some Hebrew Names and the Hebrew Alphabet according to my research as described in the book Sacred Name IAUA.

This web page uses Unicode to display the Hebrew characters rather than a picture. This has only been tested in Windows Internet Explorer version 9 so the results are uncertain with other browsers.

The Windows Tahoma font is specified to display Hebrew using the "block" style of characters. The character size is rather small relative to the Latin characters so a font size increment of +1 has been specified. I do not know what the results of font substitution may produce on other platforms.

The Times New Roman font is specified to display Hebrew characters using a "script" style. The character size is extremely small relative to the Latin characters and the Tahoma font so a font size increment of 2 has been specified. I do not know what the results of font substitution may produce on other platforms.

Hebrew Names

The Biblical Hebrew transliteration of some Old Testament names is shown using a block font. The Strong's number is given for cross reference. A link is provided to compare with www.blueletterbible.com

Remember, Hebrew is read right to left. This is the opposite of the Latin left to right reading. Also remember this is a Biblical Hebrew transliteration, which has little to do with Modern Hebrew.

KJV   Strong's   Hebrew   Transliteration

God #430 אלהים ELAIM
Elijah #452 אליהו ELIAU

Hebrew Alphabet

The Latin transliteration and sound is shown for the Hebrew alphabet. The letters are shown in both a script and block style for comparison. Those Hebrew letters which are used as final (word ending) characters are shown in parenthesis. In keeping with the right to left reading order of Hebrew, the final letter is shown to the left, which is not familiar to the English reader.
